Saadani is unlike any other national park in Tanzania. Acacia savannah and coastal thicket lead towards the Indian Ocean, while the Wami River supports hippos, crocodiles and excellent birdlife. It is a rewarding choice when time is limited or when you want safari and coast without flying north.
We can arrange Saadani as a day visit, a relaxed weekend or part of a longer coastal route through Bagamoyo. Private transport from Dar es Salaam keeps the journey simple, with boat safaris and game drives scheduled around park conditions.

Saadani Savannah
WHAT YOU CAN SEE & DO
Drive through coastal savannah, palm-dotted grassland and thicket in search of giraffe, zebra, antelope, elephant and the park's more elusive predators. The experience is quieter and wilder than Tanzania's busiest circuits.
WHERE YOU CAN STAY
Stay in a park lodge, tented camp or simple coastal property, depending on current operations. We select the location that best supports game drives and onward travel.
BEST TIME TO VISIT
June–October is generally drier and easiest for game viewing. January–February can also be pleasant; March–May is wetter and some roads or services may be limited.

Wami River
WHAT YOU CAN SEE & DO
Take a guided boat safari along broad river reaches and mangrove channels. Hippos, crocodiles, monkeys and an impressive variety of kingfishers, herons and raptors may be seen from the water.
WHERE YOU CAN STAY
River excursions are usually included from selected park lodges or arranged as part of a private Saadani stay. Timing depends on water, weather and park operations.
BEST TIME TO VISIT
Boat safaris can operate across much of the year when river and weather conditions are safe. Dry-season months combine most easily with road-based game viewing.

WHAT YOU CAN SEE & DO
Experience the rare transition from protected bush to the Indian Ocean, with dunes, coastal forest and fishing culture adding a distinctive sense of place. Beach time is a complement to safari, not a resort-style stay.
WHERE YOU CAN STAY
Small coastal lodges and park properties provide relaxed rooms or tented accommodation. For a fuller beach holiday, we can continue to Zanzibar or another dedicated island resort.
BEST TIME TO VISIT
June–October and January–February often bring favourable combinations of road and coastal conditions. Tides and sea conditions influence beach and boat activities.

Bagamoyo Gateway
WHAT YOU CAN SEE & DO
Add Bagamoyo's Old Town, Kaole Ruins and Swahili Coast history before or after the park. It creates a compact itinerary with culture, wildlife, river scenery and coast within reach of Dar es Salaam.
WHERE YOU CAN STAY
Overnight in a heritage-style hotel, guesthouse or beach property around Bagamoyo, or continue directly into Saadani. Private road transfers keep the route comfortable.
BEST TIME TO VISIT
A year-round cultural addition, with June–October usually driest. We plan driving times carefully and allow more flexibility during the main rains.
Wildlife, marine life and seasonal movements are natural and cannot be guaranteed. We use current local conditions to shape the best possible itinerary.
